Congratulations to Joanne Moyle and Tony Haeta who are our 2014 Champions!

A great day was had by the almost 80 players who turned out to AKARANA Golf Club on Friday March 14th.

A big thanks to Andrew Craw and the team at SOUTH AUCKLAND MOTORS who once again were the major sponsor of the day. If you are looking for a new or used car, get in contact with Andrew and he is sure to look after you.

2014 Royal Oak Golf Classic moves to AKARANA GOLF CLUB

Friday March 14th is the date of our annual Royal Oak Golf Classic for 2014 and we would love to have your support again this year. We are holding this fundraising event at Akarana Golf Club and we are looking forward to another outstanding day. South Auckland Motors have come on board once again and this year they are putting up another fantastic car for a hole in one on a Par 3. Their generosity is greatly appreciated by the Club and we ask you to support them and our other valued sponsors where possible.

This year we are introducing a new team competition – BEST DRESSED TEAM. If your team is successful you will win a night for two at the Rendezvous Grand Hotel Auckland per player . (That’s 4 nights accommodation in total). We are encouraging you to enter as a team and theme your dress code accordingly. We are limiting the entries to the first 120 players and entries have been flying in before we even have the official poster out. As one of the leading golf courses in Auckland, Akarana Golf Club will be a stunning venue for our Golf Classic in 2014.

We would like to have all entries confirmed by February 1st at the latest (I am predicting the entries may be full before then) and so ask that you email your entry and/or your foursome to myself at rorc2@xtra.co.nz asap to ensure your place in the field.

We will have a 12.30pm shotgun start and ask that players are on course by 11.45am where you will have a chance at the Heineken Pitching competition, perhaps have a bite to eat with your complimentary coffee and can take some time to relax before your days play starts. There will be various refreshments available on the course during the day.

Players are then encouraged to return to the Royal Oak Racquets Club where the prize giving and post match dinner will be held. Once again our fabulous new caterers, Papi’s Kitchen, will be catering for the event and we are sure they will have a delightful meal for you after a hot day out on the course.

We welcome all golfers both serious and social, so if you have any family or friends that may be interested please feel free to forward this email and the attached poster to them.

We would prefer that payment is made prior to the day and the following payment options are available (please let me know if you require a gst invoice), the cost is $399 for a team of four or $125 for an individual entry.

Cheque – post your Cheque to : RORC Golf Classic, P.O.Box 24060, Royal Oak.
Internet Banking – ASB Royal Oak 12 3061 0164512 01, please enter your Surname & Golf in the payment details.
Credit Card – please call in to the club or phone Angela on 0275138536 with your details.
Cash – please call into the club and see Angela or Gary

As always with any fundraising event, we are always looking for sponsors. Should you or your company be interested in becoming part of this fantastic group, please contact me on mobile or email and I can provide you with some further details. All sponsors will have their company logo displayed at the course and in the Club Lounge for 12 months.

  • 2013 Royal Oak Golf Clasic

Another spectacular day was had on March 15th at the Aviation Golf Club. A big thanks to South Auckland Motors and DB/Heineken for their support as our main sponsors. Unfortunately no one was able to win the Ford Focus for the hole in one on the 9th but a few people definitely came close. Congratulations to Chris Johnston (Ladies Winner) and Pule Ofe (Mens Winner) plus all those who came out to play and supported the Club in this Caro Bowl fund raising venture. We were able to raise just over $6000 – our biggest success so far. Keep your eyes peeled for next years tournament – a change of venue could be on the horizon.

  • 2012 Royal Oak Golf Classic

This year the event was held for the first time at the Aviation Golf Club and it was a picture perfect day for golf and the course was in great condition. With a Ford Fiesta sponsored by SOUTH AUCKLAND MOTORS up for grabs for a hole in one on the 9th all players were hoping for the perfect tee shot to win them the car. Unfortunately no one was successful but resident Tennis Professional, Gary Swinkels, was the closest to the pin. Thanks to Andrew Craw and team for their ongoing support of the hole in one and Golf Classic each year. The ladies champion this year was Anna Lam and for the 3rd time Pule Ofe won the mens with scores of 87 and 75 respectively. The 12th hole was also popular with SAKEBAR providing staff cooking up nibbles and offering Sake to the golfers before they teed off. Thanks to Joy & Norm for another great hole sponsorship. Entries were down a little but it was great to see the regulars back playing which included Junior Wimbledon doubles winner/former touring professional and current Auckland RPC Tennis Coach, James Greenhalgh, ASB Classic and Heineken Open tournament Director, Richard Palmer, former tennis Professional and coach to Wimbledon champion Michael Stich, Mark Lewis. Prizegiving was held back at the RORC Club rooms and after a great meal provided by our golf caterer, Glenys Gibson, two great items were auctioned. A signed Stacy Jones Warriors shirt, who was at the Club to personalise the shirt and having The Little General play in the tournament and at the club proved very popular. Then two members of the TASSPRINT Business House tennis team, Deek Tocker and Logan Keane, kindly donated their services as builders for day. Both auctions easily exceeded expectations and contributed to the Club raising over $5700 towards to our top senior and junior players in our Caro Bowl teams. Planning is already underway for the 2013 Classic and it will be better than ever. Thanks to all players and volunteers for your support, we do appreciate it and we would be unable to run such a successful event without you!
