  • Hotshots and Squad Coach - Ryan Steven

Hotshots and Squad Coach - Ryan Steven

I have been involved with the club for the last ten years playing inter club and winning club champs. The great thing about coaching is that you get to see how hard work pays off especially when at the start of the lessons to the end a kid has give from not even being able to hit the ball to hitting consistent shots over the net.

  • Hotshots and Squad Coach - Emma Eccleton

Hotshots and Squad Coach - Emma Eccleton

Hi, my name is Emma, I have been playing at Royal Oak for 6 years now and I am currently in the Caro Bowl reserve team. I also was apart of the junior Caro Bowl team, which won overall. My goal as a player is to get a full tennis scholarship to the states. I have been coaching at Royal Oak for a year and a half now, I really enjoy working with all players of different levels, but I love working with the little kids (Tiny tots) and watching their talent grow. Being a coach at Royal Oak is great because I get to meet new people and help the younger generation with their development in tennis. I want the kids to enjoy the squad and want to come back. I love watching them grow as players and as individuals, seeing them improve is a great satisfaction as a coach. I also coach from the ages of 10-13. It is more of a competitive environment, where I coach the technical and physical aspects of tennis, it is an advanced squad but I still make sure everyone is happy and enjoying them selves. The most important thing for me as a coach is that everyone is keen to improve, and has a positive attitude towards the game.

  • Hotshots Coach - Rory Hammond

    Hotshots Coach - Rory Hammond

First of all, my name’s Rory, and I have been working with Angela and Gary as a competitive junior tennis player since the beginning of the year, having moved up here from Wellington. I, over the course of this year, have played for Royal Oak in Junior Caro Bowl and Men’s Open 1, and have recently begun to help out Gary and Ange with junior coaching. I enjoy teaching and working with the kids, bringing back old memories of when I was young. I am also trying to gain a little more experience to aid qualifications as a ‘community coach’.

Looking forward to seeing you around!
